Network Administration Training Administering a network is a difficult and often lonely role. When things go well, nobody notices. When things go wrong everybody is screaming that their need is the greatest and the poor system administrator has to tread carefully as his career is again under review. The best strategy for systems administration is not to allow things to go wrong and when that’s impossible, to have thought through the options and have a plan ready to implement. That’s easily said, and many seasoned administrators can do this without much effort. But for the new administrator it’s not very obvious how to achieve this. The purpose of this training course is to focus on the essentials of administration for staff new to the role. The training we provide is scheduled to run over 2 days, separated by about 4 weeks. This is to allow the administrators to review the results of the first day and to undertake some homework. The course covers both the management and the technical aspects of the role, but concentrates on the concept of service provision, as the basic role of a system administrator. The major modules are:
